The Drought.gov team reformats data from multiple partners into web- and GIS-ready formats, which we use throughout Drought.gov. These data, hosted on Google Cloud Storage, are free for all to download or reference directly from their web applications.
Once again, storms drenched areas of the United States, improving drought in parts of the Plains and Midwest. Out West, conditions in Oregon and Montana improved. Drought expanded in the Florida peninsula, western Great Plains, and Washington. As of May 14, 2024, 11.71% of the U.S. and Puerto Rico and 13.98% of the lower 48 states are in drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
