Quarterly Climate Impacts and Outlook for the Southeast and Caribbean Region for December 2024–February 2025. Dated March 2025.

Temperatures were near to below average across most of the Southeast this winter. The greatest departures were found across central and eastern portions of North Carolina and Virginia, where several locations were 2–3°F below average. Precipitation was below average across much of the Southeast this winter. The driest locations extended from the northern Gulf Coast through eastern portions of Georgia and the Carolinas, as well as central portions of Alabama, where seasonal totals were 4 to 8 inches below average.

NOAA’s Regional Climate Services Program created these climate outlooks to inform the public about recent climate impacts within their respective regions. Each regional report contains easy-to-understand language, and anyone can access them through the Drought Portal.
