Quarterly Climate Impacts and Outlook for the Western Region for March – May 2017. Dated June 2017.

Wetter than normal spring in Pacific NW, Sierra Nevada; Washington observed 2nd wettest spring on record. Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming all had one of their top-10 warmest springs on record. April 1 snowpack was well above normal in the Sierra Nevada, Cascades, Great Basin Ranges, and central Rockies; near normal for N/S Rockies. Snowmelt flooding impacted many snow-dominated watersheds; many locations forecast to hit record streamflow volumes in summer.

NOAA’s Regional Climate Services Program created these Climate Outlooks to inform the public about recent climate impacts within their respective regions.
