Snowpack Monitoring in the Rocky Mountain West: A User Guide
In the Rocky Mountain West, monitoring the evolution of the snowpack over the course of the winter and spring is critical to forecasting streamflow and managing water supply as well as fisheries management and guided rafting. The Western Water Assessment, part of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado-Boulder and funded through NOAA’s Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments Program, assembled this guide for water managers, decision makers, forecasters, researchers, and others who use, collect, and produce snow information.
