Mid-Atlantic Drought Assessment and Building Early Warning Capacity Meeting: Delaware
In 2024, heat and a lack of rainfall led to widespread drought across the Mid-Atlantic states (West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia). For some locations, this was the worst drought the region experienced in more than two decades. These regional meetings will capture the experiences of drought in 2024 across sectors as well as the gaps, needs, and potential next steps for greater regional drought early warning capacity and resilience.
Please join NOAA’s National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS), Northeast Regional Climate Center (NRCC), NOAA Regional Climate Services Eastern Region, state climatologists, watershed organizations, and other partners responding to drought in the Mid-Atlantic region at one of the two meetings located closest to you: in Delaware or in Pennsylvania.
Please share this announcement with drought-impacted partners in the region. Both day-long meetings will be in-person, with limited virtual engagement options for those unable to travel.
