By October 15, after weeks of dryness accompanied by record heat, 65% of the Southeast region was in drought, with nearly 35% in severe drought. Hardest hit areas were in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. Since then, most of the region has seen beneficial precipitation. Is the current drought over? What’s the outlook for this winter?
