Skiing locations were available in a GIS format from NOAA's National Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center (NOHRSC). These ski locations were supplemented with data from the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), which includes NSAA member ski areas.

U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) data from the National Drought Mitigation Center were available in a GIS format.
