Wyoming Drought Conditions & Outlooks Webinar
The Wyoming Conditions Monitoring Team (WCMT) and partners hosted the Wyoming Drought Conditions & Outlooks public webinar on Thursday, June 16 from 1–2 p.m. MT. The webinar started with a 45-minute presentation by several climate, water, weather, and wildland fire experts, followed by a Q&A session.
Presenters outlined current conditions throughout Wyoming, such as soil moisture, streamflows, and reservoir levels, to help participants understand why the U.S. Drought Monitor currently appears the way it does. Based on the current conditions, a representative with the State Engineer’s Office shared what water users might expect this season, and a wildland fire outlook will be presented. The National Weather Service then provided a more near-term forecast.
