For the 15th week in a row, drought worsened in the Southwest. The Southeast worsened too, and Extreme Drought (D3) expanded in Florida. Many regions saw mixed conditions (Midwest, Plains, Rockies). As of April 22, 2025, 32.90% of the U.S. and Puerto Rico and 39.23% of the lower 48 states are in drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
